Works Weekly Fashion

Wow. It's been a while since I've done one of these posts.

After looking through a bunch of old photographs to compile a really personal lifestyle post recently, I got pretty nostalgic.
I have SO many lovely clothes spilling out of my cupboards but I hardly ever wear them anymore - so this week I decided to funk up my fashion a bit and it felt so refreshing!

Monday:

I went for a wintery silver look with this long-sleeved (ancient) glitter dress I own, a musky pink beaded necklace, some leg warmers and a grey snood all paired with my May Shoes of the Month. I had on a waist-belt and showed off my new Polo handbag - which was my little birthday spoil that I treated myself to.

I spent my lunch break in the travel agent inquiring about a little trip away....... to....

Ireland!

My travel bug is not yet over... nor do I think it will ever be - and planning this trip is so exciting. It will definitely be this year.. that is all I know for now!!
If you have any places to suggest I visit please let me know!

Of course I'll do Dublin, Galway and Limerick.. so any bars or historic buildings, landmarks and must-see places will be a fabulous help for me!

Thank you!!

Tuesday:

I was feeling very French today.

During my lunch break I went to this gorgeous cafe called Mon Petit Pain where I ordered a box full of macarons and sat out in their courtyard in black and white stripes and a beret.

I paired my maxi dress with some pink peep toe heels, a matching pink beret and some swirly silver earrings. What a great day.

Wednesday:

I desperately wanted to wear my May shoes of the month again - I am really loving them! When I bought them I also bought this leopard print button up seen above.

I was never previously sure if I liked leopard print or not and wasn't confident that I could really pull it off.... I'm still not sure if animal print is really a 'Jade Thing' to wear... but it was interesting to experiment with what I had in my wardrobe and mix them with something new and daring.

The working day was crazy because it is end of month so I am busy busy with admin work but still I'm finding time to do what I do best... have fun! :)

I met my friend Ashley at Mo's on Rex on Wednesday evening for a few beers. Just another great, great day!

Thursday:

Thursday was another fabulous day - although I only had gone to bed at 3am the previous night due to a pajama party at a local bar... I managed to pull through the day.

I even receieved a wonderful parcel from my friend in Canada - which you can read more about in the previous post.

I spent the evening relaxing with my family, watching series in front of the crackling fire after devouring a 10 page hand-written letter from my intercontinental 'pen-pal' - bliss.

Friday:

Today was cold!

I have decided that I am the worlds #1 procrastinator! I'd set my alarm for 6am and was determined to pull on some sweat pants and a hoodie and go for a run around the island this morning.... but when I saw the weather outside I just crawled further under the covers and slept for another hour.

Today's look was for pure warmth and comfort, with my favorite 'jeggings,' boots and thick tribal printed chunky sweater. I also had my most sentimental and favorite necklace, the 'OM' symbol hanging from my neck.

Tonight, after a little trip to the spa this afternoon to get my nails done, I am cooking dinner for my family. I have no idea what I'll be preparing just yet but I'm in such a creative mood - so some experimenting will definitely be done!

How was your working week blogger friends? I hope it was as wonderful as mine - never stop smiling and sharing the love!

Enjoy the weekend!

Works Weekly Fashion

Hello all my blogging friends!!

Thank you all so much for your lovely comments to my previous travel post on Tanzania! It's good to be properly back in the blogging world.

I am currently crammed in my parents little office perfectly situated across the road from the Fine Arts Gallery that I now work at.

I have had the most divine time working there so far! This is the first job I've walked into without feeling completely overwhelmed and nervous. I feel so comfortable and happy there - like I just slot right in!

I started on a Wednesday as I still had to finalize some things with the Real Estate agency. So it isn't a full weeks worth of fashion unfortunately but these were my little ensembles for this week:

Wednesday:

Day one I must admit I had an absolutely masssssssssive hangover. Not great for the first day at what is literally a Dream Job to me!!! But I had gone out for lunch with my friend Patrick and lunch turned into some serious Gin and Tonics, followed by a bottle of Shiraz, followed by beer.... followed by a car filled with empty bottles and two wine glasses stolen from the restaurant (which I will be returning at some point or another!). I finally collapsed into my bed at about 2am, carting around my two cats and forcing love out of them until I fell asleep curled around my hot water bottle and tubby sausage dog. Good times.

Thursday:

Friday:

Today was a particularly sad day for me. At 2am I woke up feeling really restless and uneasy, but I stayed in bed and cuddled closely to my sausage dog conveniently snuggled under the duvet with me as well as my ginormously tubby cat, India.

By 3am I still hadn't been able to drift back off and I started hearing noises downstairs. I plodded down my staircase to investigate and found my mother holding one of our four furry feline friends in her arms, wrapped in a towel.
I asked her what was wrong and she looked up at me with devastated eyes before whispering, "Mini Minx... he's dead."
I thought it must have been a dream. He was only nine years old. Definitely not old enough for his time to be up. Although he had already exceeded far more than their given nine lives.

He was the worlds most awesome cat. When we got him I had named him Sprite and by the time it came to neuter him we discovered he was in fact a girl. This news was given to us on April Fools day and so we renamed him or 'her' April.
That lasted all of two weeks until somehow to vet told us that he had somehow managed to miraculously grow male genitals once more and we finally got him neutered! That is how he was dubbed: Mini Minx.

About a year ago Mini Minx was attacked by a dog and bitten through the head. He suffered severe brain damage but he eventually recovered. My family had wanted to put him down as he as unable to close his mouth, making it impossible for him to eat or drink. I refused and took the responsibility of forcing a syringe down his throat until he was able to use his tongue and jaw again.
The brain damage only made him more affection towards us. I think it was because he realized how much he needed us and how much we truly cared for him.

Finding him sprawled out on the floor at 3am with no life in him was the biggest shock I've had to face in a long time. He had no wounds, no illness, no bumps... he was just gone.
The only thing we can think of is a heart attack.

Anyway... so we buried him in the garden at 8am this morning and planted some seeds there to grow into beautiful flowers - something we'll look at and always remember our beautiful boy.

He really was the most awesome cat with more character and spunk than all the cats in the world combined together. He'd make us laugh daily with his quirky little ways.

Trust Mini Minx to leave this world on Friday the 13th - cool cat that he is!

I'll love you forever Minxie-Man... here's a tribute to you:

Rest in Peace my boy.

It's my lunch break at work right now and I think that it is finally hitting me. It all felt like a bad dream at first.. but now I just keep replaying it in my head and remembering our good times. Is it lame that I feel this way about a cat? I don't think so. I'm an animal fanatic and all of my animals are literally like my four legged children.

Wishing everyone an absolutely gorgeous weekend filled with infinite love and happiness.

Let's end this working week off with a great tune! Hope you enjoy it! It's called La La La by Moll Flanders:

Works Weekly Fashion

What a week! Just when I thought life was seriously plummeting downwards after returning from my incredible adventure in Tanzania... Friday has come about with an absolute BANG!

But let me start from the beginning...

Monday:

Tuesday:

Wednesday:

I have been absolutely LOVING yellow blazers for so long, seeing them on all my blogging friends fashion posts left, right and centre!
South Africa just doesn't seem to have many edgy, funky clothing that is affordable so when I stumbled across this awesome blazer in Mr. Price (the equivalent of UK's Primarks...) I could not resist! I know I'm supposed to be saving my money away right now to pay for my ridonkulously expensive dentist bill and to also eventually fly over to Mauritius and Bali... and India.... and Ireland for St. Patty's day...... I'll stop now! Many travel plans ahead! It may just take a while....

Thursday:

On Thursday I had to do a show house for work (I work at an international real-estate agency).
You know all those boards people drive by on their way to work that have FOR SALE printed across it or in my case: SHOW DAY....???? The boards everyone LOVES to vandalize or steal???
Yeah well it was my job to hammer in about nineteen boards. Only one got stolen though, across from a local pub.... figures.
Another got cracked in half.
Back to the point ... I decided to wear my: KEEEEEEYAAAA!!!! (insert karate sound there) clothing. Hammering in nineteen real estate boards is HARD! It got seriously hot and tiring and it was a beautiful Spring day too so I suffered big time! It was much better than being cooped up in an office all day though so I really have no complaints.

Friday

Friday.... today everything changed for me.
I had been feeling really low and stressed out to the point where even blogging seemed like a chore to me. I have been really quiet lately and for that I'm sorry.
I spoke with the real estate agency and was extremely honest with them. I told them that after a month there I've realized that it really isn't the environment for me.
They are sad to see me leave and made me feel really good by saying that I had been such a huge help to them and was a fast learner but that they understood.
Directly after that I was offered a job at a Fine Arts Gallery in the centre of town!!!!!!
I was so unbelievably happy I hugged the lady who interviewed me (who also happens to be my English Teacher from school days!!) and she gave me a big hug back, welcoming me to the team.

So real estate is no more than a distant memory to me.

I now have acquired my absolute dream job working in an artistic environment, a beeeautiful fine arts gallery in town. It is so much more 'me'. Words cannot describe the relief and happiness that I feel right now.

Working in that environment is going to be such a huge inspiration for me while I study my photo journalism course too. Finally it feels like this could be it.... this could be where I am supposed to be. I hope and pray that it is and cannot wait to start there hopefully as early as next week!

Have an incredible weekend bloggers! I know I will :)

Peace and love!

Namaste.

My Weekly Fashion

There are only three photo's of my fashion this week as I was booked off work ill on Thursday and Friday. I woke up on Thursday morning with a massive spider bite all red and inflamed on my chest. Not cool.
Needless to say - I felt absolutely dreadful and had a roaring temperature.
Luckily I was able to stay in bed and get some of my uni work done though which was great.

Monday:

Tuesday:

Wednesday:

Thursday and Friday:

This is when I got ill...

My cat desperately wanted to be in the photograph.
Meet India - my pride and joy :)

Everyone deals with being sick in a different way...
To me, I couldn't think of anything better to do than put on my favourite hoodie, fluffy slippers and yoga pants.
Be brought some delicious vegetarian gourmet sandwiches from my friend Patrick (as seen below), even though he did tell me that I looked like a heroin addict when I dragged myself out of bed to collect my little box from him. (He's the blondie on the right):

Make some damn good coffee to dunk some Eet Sum More biscuits into and rotate between the occasional study session (OK - its time to face facts... I'm a pretty big nerd. I really enjoy studying), and losing myself in some of the best feel-good movies I could find from my collection.

How do you deal with being ill???

Oh... guess what?
It's Friday!!!

I might not be able to go out and enjoy myself this time around but you surely can... so, I have taken the liberty of finishing this post off with such an awesome song to start your Friday Night off with!!

Enjoy!

Jake Bugg - Two Fingers

Enjoy and be safe!!!

Love, light and happiness to all!
