Summer of '14

A word of advice:
Never, under any circumstance, fall asleep in the blazing sun for over two hours while on the beach in your bikini.

Especially without lathering sun-cream onto yourself first.

Even more importantly: Do NOT rest your hand on your stomach while drifting off into that blissful slumber.

I am scorched.
Sizzled.
Roasted.
Uncannily resembling a crusty lobster.... with a beautiful hand imprinted into the middle of my stomach.

I am thrilled to have gotten some sun however.
Seeing a bikini line tan that although now is red and too sensitive for you to even comprehend, will turn to bronze soon.

Summer is on its merry old way to South Africa and I can hardly wait.
Even though it's the busiest time of year for me on the work front - it is also my favorite season.

I ADORE Summer.
Here's a list of some of my favorite things about Summer:

Sun-Dresses
Mix 'n Match Bikinis
Big Floppy Hats
Orange Sunsets
Salt-Ridden, Sun-Kissed Hair
Sand Between My Toes
Ice Cold Cocktails
Playing In The Warm Waves
Fresh Oysters
Soy-Sauce Soaked Sushi
White Wine
The Warmth of the Sun on my Skin
Reunions with Old Friends and Family
Hikes in the Forest
Outdoor Showers
Camping
Bonfires
Barbecues
Fishing Trips
Picnics
Canoeing
Skinny Dipping in the River
Summer Salads
Surfing
Barefooted Bliss

And this Summer, there's one other very special thing that make's The Summer of '14 incredibly special...
Above and beyond what I just listed... I will also be:

    1. hehe the horrible thing about Summer here is that it's right smack in the middle of the busiest season so work is crazy - and we are cooped up inside all day. Boo hoo.

  5. Oh sweetie, hope the sunburn is not that bad and it really turns into broze tone of skin. Until then, just bear it somehow. I love summer too, it´s my fav season, I hate that it´s almost winter here. :)

  8. Yikes!!! It wouldn't be a vacation without a sunburn, though. Looks like tons of fun. We're heading for winter here, as someone above pointed out, but we went to the beach just after summer ended. I covered myself in sunscreen every time I went outside and still sat under an umbrella while on the beach!

  13. BAHAHAHAHAHA! I know I must not laugh at others misfortunes Jade but the visual in my mind, oh man I've LOL'd several times. Luckily I'm at home and avoided embarrassment here. I know those moments all too well. My entire teenage years were spent burnt to a painful red crisp (that results in zero brownness whatsoever. Curse my pasty skin) can't say that I've fallen asleep though. Or I just can't remember because it's happened that often. I turn red at the drop of a hat so... Which is also why I hate summer. I can't actually enjoy it. Period.

  16. I'm bracing myself for the nasty winter ahead here in Canada. Definitely not looking forward to it because it tends to last anywhere from 6-8 months and our seasons are lately summer and winter, with maybe a dash of spring and fall sprinkled in between.
I've always said my mother gave birth to me in the country in a sense that I'll never, ever get used to this damn cold. I HATE it! :(

I hope your burn is feeling a bit better.

Jeff and I got smashed on a catamaran in Barbados and I got a nasty, nasty burn that day that resulted in some awesome colour, which I still, remarkably have. lol

    Take care love xo

  18. Oh dear. I'm so sorry to hear about the sunburn. I have very fair skin and easily burn, so I know how painful that can be. Your summer list sounds like fun. Spring is my favorite season, but summer comes in a close second. :-)
