Sunday Funday: Trip to Robberg Nature Reserve

I really must apologize for the terrible quality of the photographs in this blogpost.

One of two things could have gone wrong today:

a) I could have forgotten to buy a new pack of batteries for my camera
b) I could have left my camera's memory card in my laptop

I did both.

So, a combination of three Blackberry camera's were put to the task of capturing our horrendously hot hike today. Seriously, why did we choose the one day that came to a high of 29 degree's to do a hike?!

All in all though we had a really great day out and much fun in the sun was had.

We've decided to do one day like this a month at least and have called them our 'Soul Trip,' days.
These are days to literally just revive our souls.
Let go of all negativity whether it be from those around us, work, home etc. No matter what it is, on these days we just become one with nature and march it off.

As you can see from the photographs it doesn't matter what sort of problems we each have to face at the end of the day - we made the most of the few hours we had at one of the most beautiful spots that is quite literally on our doorstep.

So if you are in and around the garden route area then make a plan to head out to the Robberg Nature Reserve.
It is R30.00 p/p (prices probably change in and out of season) and you get the whole day to explore indescribable beaches and mountaintops with some of the worlds most breathtaking views.
I am so blessed to live in a town such as this, every day there's a new and exciting beautiful adventure to be had.

Hope you all had an amazing weekend!

What I Wore Today

Today I took my dogs to the lagoon and threw a Frisbee for them for a few hours.
I don't get to see them much at all since the breakup so it was really great to get to play with them again and laugh at how clumsy and silly they are. They truly make my heart swell with love - those goofballs.

Anyway - this was my outfit for the day:

It didn't last long until most of it was removed and I was swimming and covered in mud!
I was going for a beachy, barefooted, messy bun look.

Sweater: R180.00 from a Chinese Store
Shorts: R500 + Originally a pair of Riverisland Skinny Jeans before I got hold of a pair of scissors
Sunnies: Rayban sunglasses I found on a hike a few months ago
Ring: Primarks
Pearl Bracelet: Courtesy of mum's jewellery box
Bikini: R350.00 from Woolworths

Woolworths | Eye Make-Up Remover Review

I must have had this product sitting in my bathroom now for well over a year and I can't believe I never used it!

My mum originally bought it for me as a stocking filler one Christmas when I still enjoyed really dark eye make-up.
Over the years that have passed though, my style has turned a lot more natural and I have moved onto enjoying the more earthy shades.

However, the other night I had a bit of a night out and put my newly acquired make-up artistry skills to good use by getting creative with a more dark and edgy look.

When I got back home I was really struggling to remove the mascara and eye-liner and that's when my eyes fell upon this 150ml white God Send bottle.

I grabbed a few wads of pure cotton and following the instructions provided on the bottle I pumped a dollop of the milky contents onto the pads.
Covering one eye at a time and leaving the cool white liquid to combat my make-up for 30 seconds before removing the pad, I was really impressed by how effective it was.

Not only was the remover really gentle (making this product great for people who have sensitive eyes,) but it also managed to clear my face from all the daily gunk I smear it with within just under a minute!

The formula was also really soothing - the cool milky texture was actually enjoyable on my eyes after the late night out.

Dress by YDE - +R350.00

The Woolworths Eye Make-Up Milk Remover is also Ophthalmologically Tested, which for those of you who don't know means that it has undergone the best eye examinations possible and is therefore 100% safe to use around that area.
All products that are used around the eye area must undergo ophthalmological testing - thumbs up Woolworths!

In South Africa this product can be found in stores for as little as R59.95 which in pounds would be about ₤4.00 in the UK.

I'll be really gutted if this product has been discontinued in the shops when it comes to needing to buy a new bottle.

What do you use?

O.P.I Products Review

Hello beauty blog lovers'!

Today I have something rather different for you. Usually I base my posts on one specific product that has blown me away but today I will be showing you a few of my latest O.P.I Product finds and sharing my experience with each one with you!

O.P.I – Espresso Scrub

This is a sugar based scrub with AHA’s (fruit Acids) to double exfoliate and promote cell renewal due to the caffeine content, this is what makes it different from the normal Pedicure scrub below. This product helps to reduce the hard callous skin from underneath the feet, especially the heels.
All you do is apply the scrub to hands or towel-dried feet / legs, rub it in for about 10-15 seconds before rinsing.
The espresso scrub makes me crave a big starbucks takeaway coffee like nothing before and leaves my feet so silky smooth – I adore this product and definitely find it my favourite from the brand.
O.P.I – Scrub

Sugar based scrub with AHA’s (fruit Acids) to double exfoliate. It has a very soft, sweet smell, almost like baby powder and much like the espresso scrub, it leaves your feet feeling brand new. I would definitely recommend the espresso scrub above this product though.
Massage this scrub into your feet to slough away the unpleasant callous skin and rinse.
O.P.I – Cappuccino Massage

The Cappuccino Massage product is a non-greasy formula for an enjoyable ‘at-home’ spa massage. It is deeply moisturizing with anti-oxidants and vitamins, botanical extracts, caffeine and emollients. Apply this product to your hands or feet and continue to massage it into your skin for the best effect. This product does not have as much of a strong caffeine scent as the espresso scrub but still has hint of a coffee shop in it.
I really enjoyed the rehydrating after effect of this cream and the smell lingered on my skin for a good few hours.
O.P.I - Avoplex Exfoliating Cuticle Treatment

This products works at exfoliating your cuticles while at the same time it softens and moisturizes them. Use this tube several times a week and leave the liquid on for 3-5 minutes for the best results. It has a very nice, light cucumber-citrus scent that is very refreshing and uplifting.
Who should especially use this product: women / men who suffer from dry, rough cuticles. Quite a few of my guy friends have tried this product out and absolutely love it.
These are some of my favourite polishes at the moment:

From left to right: Magnifico Mexico, Just a Little Rosti at This, Can You Tapas This? , Alpine Snow, Here Today Aragon Tomorrow, Cuckoo for this Colour, Glitzerland, Diva of Geneva.

My favorite three would have to be Magnifico Mexico (as I am a little obsessed with corally colours), Glitzerland because I have recently discovered how amazing gold looks on me and lastly Diva of Geneva simply because I cannot begin to even describe the colour! It is so funky and different and I just love their whole range to be honest with you.

Us spa ladies haven't been able to have any treatments done on ourselves now during season so we're all starting to resemble cave women unfortunately.
Thankfully season is coming to an end and I have slotted myself in for my usual waxes, mani's and pedi's once again, I can hardly wait to see my nails looking relatively tame again! I'm really feeling the french manicure vibe this time around, neat and simple.

Hair by Elaine of London ~ My Appointment

My appointment at Hair by Elaine of London went amazingly. I ended up arriving half an hour early for my treatment due to my meeting with the bank going pear-shaped (when does it not?). However this was no hassle for the ladies that assisted me. They sat me down and tipped my head back to begin with the wash  and let me just point out here that I am an absolute sucker for scalp massages! Little did I know that I had been seated in an actual massage chair that massaged my whole back throughout the whole wash. What a pleasant surprise!
Thereafter, I was taken to the big scary black chair facing the mirrors of the salon and I squeaked out that I really didn't want them to take too much of my length off as I've been trying to grow it for years! I have tried everything from supplements to sceptical home mix treatments - but the process of getting my hair longer has been painfully slow!
I also showed them photographs of Jessica Biel's fringe and that's when they set to work. When it came to combing my hair forward and snipping the length away to form the fringe I was already completely relaxed about it, I knew that I was in good hands.
The end result looks better than I could have imagined. I am super impressed with the outcome, the service and the price!
My total was R300.00 (incl. wash and blow, trim, fringe and flat iron)
Their whole price list was actually incredibly reasonable! Perhaps it is because working at the spa I am at, connected to a famous 5 star hotel and a luxury location makes our prices crazy expensive for locals but I was really blown away.
Massages for as little as R100.00 (now I can't vouch for their other treatments just yet but what I have experienced, it may as well have been 5 star!)
Top points Elaine. Be proud of your company and staff and keep up the excellent service.
