Shoes of the Month | May

I know.

I vowed to never again buy from a cheap store....

Fail.

This months pair of new shoes comes from none other than Mr. Price (for you overseas readers, think of Mr. Price like Primarks).

I will never learn.

These shoes really caught my eye though and I couldn't say no. I'll probably only be able to wear them once a month to keep them lasting - and commit myself to only wearing them when I'd spend the majority of my time off my feet anyway...... what a waste.

OK - enough of the negative. Let me tell you WHY I chose these shoes (R 200.00) above something else... Well..

a) I thought that I was going to have no salary in June so I had to buy cheap shoes if I wanted to keep up my Shoes of the Month posts! (But then it dawned on me... oh God, how am I going to be able to afford the wine!?!? So I am not moving just yet. I couldn't. In all seriousness, I really just couldn't.)

b) I loved the beige color

c) They felt really comfortable

d) I love that look of merging the shoe and the heel into the same material

e) You can't deny it... they are pretty stylish and perfect for winter!

I love them.

Enough said... and my shoe collection is growing beeeeeautifully! I have same great fashion posts coming up showing how I have paired these boots with work attire.. so stay tuned.

Shoes of the Month | April

Yippie, yippie yay! I'm doing my Shoes of the Month post today!

This month's shoe post has been pretty late - mainly because I bought two pairs of gorgeous shoes. My big mistake however was that I bought two SEEMINGLY gorgeous shoes from a really cheap store.

Did I mention 'BIG' mistake?!

Both shoes that I bought have already broken. What a waste of money.

So... as Autumn is in full gear now and winter is looming closer - I thought why not actually go to a REAL store and buy some boots that will get me through not one month, but perhaps actually a few winters and years!?

So without further ado...

I love them. They are snug and warm - comfortable.. padded on the inside, good quality and an amazing brown color. I love the buckles and zips - they're just great.

It is more than I would EVER spend on a pair of shoes to be honest - a whopping R 650.00. But, that being said, it is so worth it. They aren't going to fall apart like my last two did. I think rather saving your cash and spending it on something of better quality is the right way to go. Goodbye cheap shitty stores. I will not miss you.

I'm really not usually the type to buy nice shoes or spend heaps of money on glam clothing etc. I'm a traveler.... a bit of a hippy... so what's the point, right?? Well... every once in a while, spoiling yourself is nice. There's no doubt about it.

I've worn my new shoes nonstop for the last few days.

Here is what I wore them with this morning:

I paired my new boots with some jeggings (leggings that look like jeans.. yes I love them), a creamy sequenced vest and my peach blazer that I bought in Amsterdam last year. Oh, I'm also rocking a darker hairstyle and I've snipped my fringe. Hey, it's my birthday soon.... spoils ahoy!

These shots were taken just before I left for work. My nephew has been coming to visit all week long because of all the holidays here in South Africa. So every morning before I drive my little blue Micra along the lagoon road to the gallery - I get to steal some of his gurgles and smiles. Blessed!!!

Shoes of the Month | Turquoise Wedges

I was so excited for March to come around so that I could splurge on another pair of shoes!
For those of you who are new followers to Bohemian Muses (welcome!) and to explain..
I've decided that once a month I am going to treat myself to a pair of shoes!

This is mainly because I only really have one or two pairs that I wear in every day life and can actually walk in without breaking my neck or torturing myself with painful blisters!

I get every last step out of my shoes that I can until they have reached their inevitable end... it is always sad to wave goodbye to a pair of beyond worn down shoes!

So this is my devious plan to never run out of shoes and to extend my shoes lifespan!

This month I decided to go for a pair of wedges.....

Firstly.. what are your overall thoughts on wedges??

In your opinion are wedges fashionable?

I know that some people are completely against them and find them an absolute fashion crime... I did too for a long time but I loved the color of these and after I tried them on I found that they gave me the height but at the same time I was able to walk in them with stumbling too! They make you feel like you're not wearing heels which is fabulous...

Don't you think the turquoise is just divine though!? I admit they aren't the most glam in the world - but for day to day life, why not have a pair like this floating around inside of my closet?!

I got them from a store called Foschini... and the best part about them is yet to come!

They were a sale item!

50% off. Perfect!

Shoes of the Month

With the new year having rolled swiftly in and the first paycheck of the month slowly depleting.. I have managed to add a new expenditure to my monthly budget.

Shoes.

I know... I know how completely unlike me that is.. but while going through my cupboards the other day I came to the rather depressing realization that I actually don't own many pairs of shoes! I do own a ginormous collection of heels but lets face it - I can't actually walk in them!

I tend to stick to just one pair of shoes and wear them out until they are literally scattered with holes and scuff marks.
My shoe closet looks like a grave-site.
So... I have decided that once a month I am going to treat myself to a pair of comfortable, every day shoes. It's a new year and I'd like to start collecting something new.. what better than shoes????  This way, I can give each pair a break from time to time and hopefully lengthen their life-span.

These were this months pair... at an absolute steal of a price! They are from a shop called Mr. Price (a South African store) and are R99.99 which is the equivalent to £5 or roughly around about $9.00 (I got this exchange rate from the internet so who knows how accurate it really is!).

I think they are really cute and vintage - and the breathing holes make it so nice and airy for my feet too.  Best of all they are the sort of pump that will pretty much go with anything you wear. They are completely versatile and comfortable! One of the things I really adore about them is the pointed toe. I have never owned a pair of shoes with a pointed toe (besides boots!) so it makes for a nice change.

I'm really excited to bring this new monthly post onto the scene because.. well... a girl can never have too many shoes right!? So once a month I will have a new pair of shoes and by the end of 2014 my collection will be on its way to impressiveness!

Do you collect anything in specific and if so, what is it?

See you on the flip side, bloggers'
