Rape, Slut Shaming, Victim Blaming

This is the best book I have ever read... and I have a lot to say about it and what it is about (rape, slut-shaming and victim-blaming):

  4. Jade... this book should be read by everyone as you say... I want to read it ... just listening to you brought up the memory of my rape and how it took me a year of denial to finally lay charges... being in court was awful, I was told that I had asked for, approve it... offered money for it... I cannot understand how the courts could allow that...

I dealt with it in so many ways I wish I hadn't but I needed to be in control... I actually started writing my blog to get my voice back. I felt silenced, it gave me an outlet.

I have talked to my youngest daughter incessantly about how careful she is going to have to be due to social media, I don't hold anything back with her... I arm her with knowledge and I tell her that I will always believe her and fight for her, I think we all need to have someone like that in our lives and we need to know we have them... I didn't feel like I had that..

A year after my day in court I was asked to do a documentary for judges and they said I did a wonderful job... they asked me a judge could handle a rape case better. I told them to have empathy because they had no idea what it takes for a woman to get to the point that she goes to court. I can't believe there are very many woman who would subject themselves to that treatment...

I'm sorry I went on... but that book brought up many memories.. thank you for sharing it ... xox
